Transition to NAPLAN Online

The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is an annual assessment for students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9. Planning has begun to move NAPLAN from a pen and paper assessment to an online assessment. Introducing Healthy School Canteens

The introduction of the revised Healthy School Canteen Strategy increases the availability of healthy food and drink options in school canteens to make the healthy choice, the easy choice. It replaces the Fresh Tastes@School Strategy in NSW schools that was commonly known as the traffic light system. The revised strategy is consistent with the 2013 Australian Dietary Guidelines and classifies food and drinks as either Everyday or Occasional. Sugary drinks will continue not to be sold. 2017 Resource Allocation Model funding

In October 2016, all NSW public schools will receive a 2017 Planned School Budget Allocation Report. The report will assist with the management of the total budget delivered to schools through the Resource Allocation Model (RAM). The Resource Allocation Model (RAM) methodology distributes funding based on the individual needs of students and schools. This gives schools greater flexibility to make local decisions. NAIDOC Week Celebrations

NAIDOC week was acknowledged in the school holidays between 3rd and 10th July 2016. NAIDOC stands for National Aborigine Islanders Day Observance Committee. It is celebrated by all Australians. This year's NAIDOC theme is, Songlines: The living narrative of our nation. Payments can now be made using either Visa or Mastercard credit or debit card. You will need to click on Make a payment within the orange tab above. It will take you to the secure Westpac payment page. When you access Make a payment, you MUST enter the student's name and date of birth. These details are entered each time you make a payment, as student information is not held within the payment system. No student's details are given to Westpac. Cross Country Carnival Thursday 24th March 2016

The Balmain Public School Cross Country Carnival will be held on Thursday 24th March 2016 at Mort Bay Park Balmain. The students will be leaving school at 9:00am and plan to walk to the course by 9:30am. We plan on returning to school by 12:30pm. Attendance is compulsory for ALL students in Years 3-6. Any students in Year 2 who are turning 8 in 2016 are invited to participate.
